“Welcome to a corner of paradise”

The ancient village of Cabras, is located 8 km from Oristano, on the west coast of Sardinia; born at the foot of the pond (size one of the largest in Europe), which hosts among its reeds very rare bird species such as the elegant pink flamingos.

In the area of Cabras extends the Sinis Peninsula, which since 1997 is a marine protected area; is one of the most beautiful and wild island of Sardinia where you can observe the beautiful beaches, just think of the famous beach of Is Aruttas, composed of tiny grains of white quartz, or to the beach of San Giovanni di Sinis, at the foot of the ruins Tharros and dominated by the impressive Spanish tower, not to mention the less famous but equally beautiful beaches of Mari Ermi and Maimoni, that make this area a paradise unique in the world.

The natural resources of the earth and of the sea make this natural and cultural heritage as a unique and unmistakable in the Western Mediterranean context.

The archaeological site of Tharros, testimony of the intense human activities in the past, it is a good example , as well as the large number of sites nuragici and other monuments.

In 2014 Cabras finally was able to embrace the Giants Monte Prama : 38 large sculptures over two meters high which represent the oldest example of sculpture in the round of the whole Mediterranean basin. Today it is possible to observe some of these statues at the Museum of Cabras.

Certainly the most famous and evocative event that takes place in Cabras is the "Corsa degli Scalzi" . At dawn on the first Saturday in September the statue of San Salvatore is led by the barefoot runners (Sardinian said "is curridoris " ) and dressed in the traditional white tunic from the church of S. Maria Assunta to the village of San Salvatore , which is about 7 km away. The next day, the statue is again led by "is curridoris " Cabras , where waiting for him there are tens of thousands of revelers .
